We were told that the recent UMNO Supreme Council meeting was hot. The PM was told that he should step down. I don’t think there has been anything like it. No sitting PM has ever been told to go. Perhaps the last was during Tunku’s reign. But the Tunku’s reign ended after the 13th May incident in 1969. Before that, he had been a successful PM. For Pak Lah, it was just not working from the word “go”.

The Game: Part 2
Anwar is calling Abdullah to convene Parliament by Tuesday. Abdullah tells him to wait until after Ramadan, to be exact, October 13 for Anwar to “do anything”. Welcome to the Game 2.0
Anwar’s 2nd PC – Part 2
The PC lasted around 40 minutes. Anwar is confident. No, not confident. Basically, he has the numbers. He has the 31 names (and more, he says) that will jump to PR. Its a matter of whether the current PM would like to “surrender” honorably.
Circus
This is definitely what a circus, politics and good old administration in Malaysia has come to be. Now the state government of Kedah claims that the local BN party is trying to topple their government.
Cuti-cuti Chinese Taipei (Taiwan)
The trip to Chinese Taipei or Taiwan by 40 plus MPs, has got to go down as one of the most ridiculous ideas coming from the ruling party, Barisan Nasional. Of all the circus like strategies, this has got to up there at the top as one of the craziest, funniest and ridiculous ideas. Why?
Grabbing Power
PR supporters may say the end justify the means but I say, this is done so undemocratically. The oppostion leader, Anwar Ibrahim is confident that the current government will end its term 6 months after narrowingly winning the mandate to lead Malaysia. It has targetted September 16 as the date when the opposition will takeover Putrajaya. The issue is, at least to me, what good is this for Malaysia?
A Decade
So what was expected, happened. Anwar is back in Parliament after 10 years. Yippee. Errmmm…whatever
But what was amazing is the amount of confidence that the BN had when they took him on his own hometown of Permatang Pauh. Whatever said about him, it’s his town and when he first contested there, he defeated the incumbent from PAS in 1982. If BN thought that they’d win, then they’re a bunch of political novices!
Gerakan to discuss pulling out of Barisan in October
That’s the news in STAR today.
Comment:
This again is evidence of how strong BN was and now that it is not. Gerakan is considered the 4th largest party in BN although prior to losing Penang at the last elections, it goverend the Island. But it was swept away during the last GE in March 2008. Now there is talk about pulling away from BN altogether. Now what would it do to the political landscape in Malaysia. A lot actually if what Gerakan Perak is mooting is actually realized. I hope Gerakan leaders heed and pay special attention to former Premier Tun Mahathir’s writings in his blog here, here and here.
